Hey there!! 🙋🙋
First off, sorry for the long silence. School and a crop of other commitments has been in the way of me doing this post, but I’m altering my schedule to try and fit in as much as I can, blogging included.
And now… 😅😅
It’s back by public demand. :D:D
And I’m humbled to do another top seven list.
Since I last shared my first top list of songs I have and listen to on my phone’s giant playlist, several readers have asked me to do a follow up post, with new songs that will inspire, touch and motivate us as Christians to keep on in the faith.
And here we are! The second Top 7 list of songs that have been a blessing to me. Along to each is a related verse. Plus, I’ll add a bit more descriptions, but not too much to make it a spoiler 😝😝
Note: all verses are quoted from the Modern King James Version, just important to note 😄
7. Remind Me Who I Am – Jason Gray
Tell me once again/ who I am to You
Tel me lest I forget/ who I am to You
I belong to You
1Jn 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God. Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
Often, we tend to forget who we really are in God’s sight; His children, His beloved. This song always helps me go back to the reality of the fact that He loves me, and that by His love, He called me out of darkness, made me His child and now, I can live free of fear or doubt.
6. How Can It Be –Lauren Diagle
Lauren starts this song in a very interesting way:
I am guilty/ ashamed of what I’ve done
What I’ve become
These hands are dirty/ I dare not lift them up
To the Holy One.
But, as the song proceeds, she declares:
You right my wrongs/ You plead my cause
You break my chains/ You overcome
You gave Your life/ To give me mine
You say that I am free/ How can it be?
Rom 6:20 For when you were the slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness.
How can it be, that He who was so perfect in love and His life, would lay down His life to save my sinful one? How can it be, that I who was once a slave to sin is now declared free from the wrath to come? It’s all too much to even comprehend, all this grace pouring out for all who believe.
5. Something- Chris August
Going through life on my own/ I’m ready for that someone
And baby, that someone is/ You are my only, my all
Everything means nothing/ Unless I’ve got something
Gen 2:22-23 And Jehovah God made the rib (which He had taken from the man) into a woman. And He brought her to the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of man.
Ecc 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in His time; also He has set eternity in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end.
All you guys out there getting married, this is (one of 😄😄) the best wedding songs I can suggest. Chris sings of a love he has found, or hopes to find, and still honour God in that relationship, and hopefully end it in marriage. This song also is from the album The Maker (whose title song was my number one song in the previous list), so I believe that it will be as good as the rest. And a really honest love song too, one you wouldn’t be uncomfortable listening to.
4. From The Inside Out- Hillsong
My heart and my soul/ I give You control
Consume me from the inside out, Lord
Let justice and praise/ Become my embrace
To love You from the inside out
Everlasting/ Your light will shine when all else fades
Never-ending/ Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart/Is to bring You praise
From the inside out
Lord, my soul cries out
Joh 4:23-24 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
This is one song that always refreshes my spirit, reminding me of what true worship is. That truly from my heart I may learn to bring Him praise and worship Him, and that from the inside out my life will worship Him and give Him all glory. I first heard this song at a church camp that totally brought me closer to God, waay closer than I thought I would.
3. He Knows- Jeremy Camp
He knows/ He knows
Every hurt and every sting/ He has walked the suffering
He knows/ He knows
Let your burdens come undone/ Lift your eyes up to the One
Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted just as we are, yet without sin.
I am always reminded that no matter how much hurt I may feel, how disappointed I may get or how low I will be, Jesus has already walked the road before me, that in all of it, He will give me strength to face anything, because I hold to the hope that He knows exactly what I go through.
Jeremy Camp has an interesting testimony, and I think it inspired this song in part. That’s for you to find out 😛 and let me know.
2. More Than Conquerors- Rend Collective Experiment
We are more than conquerors through Christ
You have overcome this world/ This life
We will not bow to sin or to shame/ We are defiant in Your name
You are the fire that cannot be tamed/ You are the power in our veins
Our Lord, our God, our Conqueror.
Rom 8:37 But in all these things we more than conquer through Him who loved us
Rend Collective won my heart with Build Your Kingdom Here, and their passion for God amazes me. In essence, this song just speaks for itself, one of those hard-to-find songs that are so scripturally loaded that trying to explain them is futile. All I can say is, look for this song. And all their other songs, trust me, you wont regret it.
1.Centre of It- Chris August
In the dark/ In the light
In the morning and night
In the good/ In the hurt
In the places I hide
When I rise/ when I fall
You’ll be there through it all
At the start/ At the end
In the centre of/ The centre of it
Rev 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, the First and the Last.
I chose this song as my number one for this list, no not because Chris August is my favourite artist, but because I listened to it recently when I was going through a period of some uncomfortable type of depression, not that serious though (. He opens the song by declaring that there are days he feels like nothing works out right, nothing goes as he wants them to, but in it all, he is reminded that God is still at the centre of it all.
That just blew my mind. Why hadn’t I seen that all along?
Doesn’t that just provide a hope for better things? It did for me, and I hope it will for you too.
Well, this time I feel like ive given away too much information concerning the songs, but all in good faith. I will say ciao and let you look up the songs, but before I do, remember not to give the artist the glory for writing such an amazing song, but to God alone for inspiring the song to minister to you.
